• We highly recommend that all students take ballet. Without proper ballet training, it is difficult to understand basic terminology, body positioning, direction change and simple steps in your child’s other classes.
• Previous dance experience is not necessary, as class placement is based on each student’s age and ability.
• Dance is a disciplined and detail oriented art form, which must be respected as such with proper attire. Dress code is necessary for all dancers. Leotard and tights must be worn to every class. If you have shoes from a previous year, you may use them to begin the season, but will need the correct shoe style and color before pictures and performances. Hair – VERY neat bun, braid or headscarf with no “wispies.” Students with short hair must have the hair secure and neat off the face. This is imperative to aid in the teaching of spotting techniques. Dancers without proper hair in will be asked to fix hair before they can participate.
• All absences must be called into the studio at least two hours prior to scheduled class. All students are expected to attend class regularly and to be on time. Any absence from class hinders a student’s progress and impedes the general progress of the entire class. If absence is continual, the studio reserves the right to remove the student from the class. If a student misses 3 consecutive classes or a total of ten classes throughout the school year without making them up, they will not be permitted to perform in the year end recital. A doctor’s note is needed should a dancer need an extended period of time off. Keep in mind that if a student is injured it is preferred that they still come to observe class and bring their “dance notebook”.
• Please make every effort to ensure the dancer is on time for his/her classes. Students need time to prepare, to fully benefit from taking a dance class. In addition, tardiness is extremely distracting to the teacher and fellow classmates.
• Team students are required to take at least one ballet and one technique class per week. If you are interested in joining a competition team, please note that there will be an audition/application process. Please make sure you understand the level of dedication and commitment involved before accepting our offer.
• A student’s intention to withdraw from a class must be made known prior to the beginning of that month. If notification of withdrawal is not given, the student’s legal guardian is responsible for that month’s tuition and there will be no refund of the last month’s tuition (June). If notification of withdrawal is given, a refund for the last month’s tuition (June) will be given up to December 31st. After December 31st there will be no refunds.
• ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE A PINK WAIVER FORM SIGNED BEFORE THE START OF THEIR FIRST CLASS EACH YEAR.
