MOMMY & ME - Mommy &
Me is a 30 minute class for students ages 1 - 2½ which includes creative movement activities,
dance games, songs, motor skill development as well as an introduction
to Ballet and Tumbling.
COMBINATION CLASSES - A mixture of the arts touching upon Pre-Ballet technique and classical Jazz and Tap styles.
BALLET - Ballet class is one of the most challenging, yet most gratifying classes. A combination
of Classical Ballet styles including Cecchetti, Vaganova and Russian
methods as well as modern Ballet styles. Ballet is the foundation for all other dance forms such as jazz, lyrical, contemporary and even hip hop and tap. Ballet is also beneficial to gymnasts, ice skaters, martial artists and athletes as it teaches alignment, placement, balance and elegance. If you are a student of dance and looking for a great class, try ballet and give yourself a chance to experience the art of dance in its purest form.
POINTE - A Pointe placement audition/review must be done before
accepting any students into Pointe class. The student must be at least
12 years of age. Pointe dancers must take at least two Ballet classes a week and be enrolled in the ballet class scheduled before their pointe class to provide for adequate warm up. Shoes will be recommended by the teacher and need to
be inspected by the teacher prior to sewing on the accessories.
TAP - Tap styles range from "Broadway" style show tap to funky Hip Hop Tapping to "Rhythm" tap. Tappers develop musicality, rhythm and the ability to understand complex patterns.
JAZZ - A foundation of classical Jazz as well as various Jazz Funk and Hip Hop moves, graceful flowing Lyrical designs and, of course,
Musical Theatre styles.
HIP HOP - Hip hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop music or that have evolved as part of hip hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking and popping which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States
LYRICAL - A style of jazz with a strong presence of ballet
performed with emotional elements to slower, lyrical music. Lyrical dance is characterized by sustained extensions, dynamic movement and expressive presence. Students are encouraged to take a Ballet and Jazz class
in addition to Lyrical.
CONTEMPORARY - A style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of ballet.
MUSICAL THEATRE - A jazz class which incorporates acting into dance
performance. Musical Theatre is also often referred to as Broadway
BREAKDANCING - A Boys only class designed specifically for boys ages 7+ as an entry into the dance world. Breakdancing is a style of acrobatic street dancing originating in the mid-1970s and characterized by intricate footwork, pantomime, spinning headstands, tumbling, and elaborate improvised virtuosic movements. This class will consist of classic toprock, downrock, power
moves and freezes, and focus on developing battle techniques and personal
style. B-boys may want to consider supplementing their
training with a hip hop and tumbling class.
ACROBATICS - Acro is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision and acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics. Think, Cirque du Soleil!
